Sony Launches most Affordable VR Device named PlayStation VR
Sony also joins the league of Virtual Reality devices along with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The new Virtual Reality device to be launched by Sony will be known by the name PlayStation VR. Sony announced the launch of PlayStation VR in a press conference held at San Francisco. Unlike HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR will be tagged with cheaper rate when compared with the two. Design

PlayStation VR is featured with a measurement of 187*185*277mm for the VR headset unit. The processor unit is featured by 143*36*143mm of measurement. The VR headset weighs nearly 610 grams whereas the processor is having a weight of 365 grams. PlayStation VR headset needs PlayStation 4 along with either DualShock 4 or PlayStation Move motion controllers for its proper functioning. It also requires the assistance of PlayStation Camera which will cost you $60. PlayStation VR is featured with LEDs that are placed around the visor which gives it an elegant look.
Display
PlayStation VR is equipped with 5.7 inched OLED display. With the help of PlayStation 4, it provides a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels. The screen has got a refresh rate of 120Hz which means 120 frames per second. The device is having a 1000 field view. Unlike its competitors PlayStation VR is having a single panel of display.
Hardware Features
The Processor Unit of PlayStation VR consists of 3D audio processing along with Social Screen having Mirroring Mode and Separate Mode along with Cinematic Mode. The Social Screen functionality separates the screen into Headset and TV and this will help others to view user’s experience on TV. The Cinematic Mode allows the users to watch movies and TV shows along with playing high end games.PlayStation VR has got certain in-built sensors. It has got the support of Six-axis motion sensing system consisting of three-axis Gyroscope and three-axis Accelerometer. Available Games
The officials of Sony declared that over 230 developers and software publishers are trying on games and entertainment titles for PlayStation VR. They also claim that about 50 of those games and entertainment titles will available before 2016 ends. These include Eagle Flight by Ubisoft, Wayward Sky, Headmster, EVE: Valkyrie from CCP Games, Re Infinite, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Tumble VR and PlayStation VR World. The Playroom VR will be available as free download along with PlayStation VR. Even more games and Entertainment titles are on the way of launch in coming days.
Inside the Box
The box that packs PlayStation VR consists of VR Headset, Processor Unit, VR Headset Connection Cable, HDMI Cable, USB Cable, Stereo Headphones along with earpiece, AC power cord and AC adaptor. Even though the device is named as PlayStation VR, the product is coded as CUH-ZVR1series.
Availability
The pre-orders for PlayStation VR have started by some retailers like Amazon.co.uk, Game.co.uk and GameStop.co.uk. The price is quoted at $399 in US, $549 in Australia and £349in UK, which is too low when compared to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Even after including the cost of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Camera, the price will be less than that of competitors. Sony officials declared that PlayStation VR will start its shipping by October 2016.
