Xperia E3 is a budget Smartphone from Sony. A bit more affordable, than its other models, Xperia E3 offers good quality and design in a package without breaking the bank. This lightweight, slim, scratchfree 4G Smartphone is easy to use with one hand. It has a scratch-resistant screen with its corners crafted for extra resilience.
Whereas the Z3 and Z3 Compact offer displays of 5.2 inch and 4.6 inch respectively, Sony’s E3 is smaller with a 4.5-inch screen with a resolution at 480×854 pixels. It has a dimension of 137.10 x 69.40 x 8.50 It runs a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, Android 4.4 KitKat, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a front camera of 0.3-megapixel 2330mAh battery and 4G support. It has a battery capacity of 2330 mAh. There is no removable battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi, Assisted GPS with Glonass, USB 2.0, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 3.5mm jack.
Taking photos and videos with E3 is easy and fun. The camera comes with a bunch of Sony’s own photo and video editing apps which sports HD video recording and Timeshift burst. It also has a front-facing VGA camera. The ‘Shake to Start’ app lets users to access apps just by holding the handset and flicking the wrist.
Xperia E3 has a powerful, long-lasting battery delivering up to 12 hours 20 minutes of talk time, and up to 706 hours of standby time. Its Quad-core processor and built-in LTE/4G modem ensures lightning speed while surfing the Internet, chatting with friends, and video calling family members and friends.
It is 8.5mm thick and weighs 143.8 grams, though the materials used are not quite as high-end as the Z3 or Z3 Compact. There are actually four different models for the E3 including a dual SIM variant.
As compared to its predecessor E1, Xperia E3 has a bigger screen, better battery and a better camera. Xperia E1 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean while E3 sports Android 4.4 KitKat. The Xperia E3 will go head to head with its competitors Micromax Unite 2 A106, Xolo Q600S, and Samsung’s Galaxy Core 2.
Price of the Sony Xperia E3 is not yet known. It will go on sale later this month. The Xperia M2 is available at £150, so it is most probable that Xperia E3 will be priced somewhere around the £120 mark.
It is available in white, black, yellow, and copper colors. Release date is September 2014.
