Just like the previous versions of Android, Google also named the latest version on the alphabet series. The new version will be called as Android M, which will be called as Marshmallow. Marshmallow is a sugar based candy which is cylindrical in shape and is coated with corn starch. Google has already launched the official Android 6.0 Software Development Kit and Google Play Store will be opened for its users to announce applications that focus on API level 23 in Android M. The official twitter of Google also confirmed the new name as Marshmallow.
The officials reported that the new version will be launched along with certain notable changes. This will have new set of App permissions. Another new feature called Doze, is introduced which will be regulate the battery usage according to the time period for which the device is being used. The new OS will support USB Type C charger in the device. This OS is also packed with a Fingerprint Scanner and Android Pay, which will be using virtual card number during the transactions. Earlier users had to minimize an application to go to another one. But in Android M they don’t have to close an application to search for the things they require on Google Now. Google Now is the voice assistant in Android just like the Cortana in Windows 10. For instance, if one of your friends messaged you the address of a particular place, you can have its details with the help of Google Now, that too without closing the app that you are on.
The new Android version provides its users absolute control over the permissions that a particular app can access to. The major problem with Android was that, during installation, the particular app asks permission and users has to unwillingly consent to those permissions, inorder to have those apps installed in your device. But with the help of new update, users are allowed to cancel those app permissions, which they have granted. In short users are allowed to easily manage their app permissions in Settings.
Android Pay and Fingerprint Support
Google now enables you to pay via Android Pay which is well protected transaction window which uses virtual card number during the payment and not your original credit or debit card number. Android Pay is also supported by 700 partner stores in US alone. This OS is also supported by the Fingerprint Scanner also. Google declared that this will be available for developers and they are also allowed to integrate the same to their applications as well.
Google officials made it clear that now users are allowed to connect easily between various applications within fraction of seconds. The developer of application is allowed to add an AutoVerify character to user’s app management system, with the help of which they can connect to native app without any hassles. In short App Links allows the user to find an app within seconds and helps to increase its usability.
Doze for Battery Management
Doze is the most important feature available in Marshmallow. This new feature will automatically find out whether the gadget has been remained idle for a pretty long period of time and automatically let the device to turn to sleep mode, which will ultimately reduce battery usage. Google made it official that gadgets with Android M lasted for nearly two and a half times longer than gadgets with Android L. The latest version is also supported by USB Type C charger which will help the user to recharge their gadgets within no time.
