Methods to Supervise Notifications on Apple Watch

Since the introduction of Apple Watches, we are able to carry smart devices on our wrist. One of the greatest advantages of these notifications is that they are easy to handle. It is so because these notifications are wrist based. But certain applications remain out of our control. But have you ever thought of the way in which each notification function. If not let us look upon the functioning of notifications first.

Mode of Operation of Apple Watch Notification

Apple Watch shows the exact ditto of each notification from the iPhone. Whatever settings you have altered in iPhone, will get reflected in Apple Watch as well. The notifications that you turn on when you connect to Apple Watch and the notifications that you turn on when you download & install new applications will also be reflected in Apple Watch.

When you are using your iPhone, then no notifications will be passed on to the Apple Watch. This is due to the assumption that you will be seeing these notifications in Apple iPhone and no need to show them on Apple Watch further. For instance when you put down your Apple Watch out of your wrist and keep it locked or turned on Do Not Disturb Mode, all notifications are muted at watch level, and all of them get stored in the device. When you keep your iOS handset under silence and use your Apple Watch and Do Not Disturb mode is turned off, then, all the potential notifications are passed from your iPhone to Apple Watch.

Now let us know the various methods to manage the notifications both in Mirror Mode as well as in Watch Mode. Also we will be providing various methods to make the notifications more private. There are many ways to make the Apple Watch mute. You can set or alter settings according to the changing environment in which you use your smartwatch.

Silencing Apple Watch by activating Silent Mode

Literal method to silence your Apple Watch is to turn down the volume and activate Silent Mode. You can activate the mode by using either method. One way is to open Glance Settings and press on the Crossed out bell icon seen there. The Silent Mode will be activated in your Apple Watch. Another option available is to click on the Crown and open Settings Menu. Then you have to select Sounds & Haptic. There you will be provided with the options of reducing the volume as well as turning it to silent mode.

There is another option available which is called Cover and Mute. To enable it you have to open Apple Watch App and go to Sound & Haptics, which can be found on the main settings list. Within the Sound & Haptics you will be able to see the option Cover to Mute to On. The advantage of this setting is that, whenever you are attending a meeting and when a notification comes, you can just turn down its sound by simply covering your watch with your bare hands.

Do Not Disturb Mode

You can activate Do Not Mode, either on your Apple iPhone or on Apple Watch. If you set it on your iPhone, then it will be automatically getting activated in your Apple Watch also. In order to activate Do Not Disturb on your Apple Watch you have to tap on its screen. This will give you the entry to Glances and there you can use Settings Glance. There you can tap on the screen of your watch to get into Control Center. Then you will be provided with the option of Do Not Disturb. But this option is not a complete solution. For instance if you have Do Not Disturb mode with allowing calls from Close Friends List, then this will also get reflected in Apple Watch also.

Airplane Mode

If you do not like interruptions or whether your boss doesn’t like phone calls while in office, then you can opt for barring the entire network by turning On the Airplane Mode. You can activate the Airplane Mode from the Settings Glance, just like Silent Mode and Do Not Disturb Mode. The only difference between Airplane Mode and Do Not Disturb mode is that, it is not reflected between both gadgets. This mode is activated for Apple Watch and iPhone individually.

Managing the Notifications on your Apple Gadgets

There are two major ways in which you can manage overload of notifications in your Apple Watch. One way is to alter iPhone Settings. Another way is to alter the settings of Apple Watch App.

Altering iPhone’s Notification

The primary method to control the notifications is to adjust the notifications on your iPhone as well in Apple Watch. For that you have access Settings of iPhone by way of Settings>>Notifications. Remember that whatever you alter in iPhone will be automatically altered in Apple Watch also. For instance, if you happened to turn down any notification in iPhone, then it cannot be seen on Apple Watch anymore.

Altering Notifications at Apple Watch

You are allowed to make changes on notifications also on Apple Watch App found on iPhone. The main Apple applications can be altered in such a way that their notifications shall appear only on Apple Watch and not in iPhones. Also you can make app-by-app settings, which means you can distinctly set various settings for each app you desire. There is another option to make custom changes in certain applications like Calendar and others by altering them in Apple Watch app in iPhone and so the change will reflect only to Apple Watch and iPhone will remain unaffected of the change.

Methods to Make Your Notifications Private

By default when you receive certain notifications, it reveals the nature of the notification. This could hamper the privacy of messages or other things that are being personally send to you. Well you are allowed to keep its privacy by enabling the Notification Privacy. When you enable it, you will receive a visual alert still, but the preview wont be pop up on the screen, suppressing the privacy of the notification. The notification will remain so until you swipe on the screen to see the notification.
