HTC Announced Vive – It’s Latest VR Headset to MWC
HTC unveiled its latest VR headset at MWC 2016 last day. There the company announced every bit regarding the features and pricing of their latest VR device. HTC Vive will pose great threat to Oculus Rift which was launched by Facebook. By launching it on MWC, HTC tries to give a clear message that they are full-equipped for a challenge with Facebook. VR Headset to MWC
HTC Vive will be shipped with VR Headset, Two Wireless Controllersspecifically for each hand, Two Lighthouse Laser Base Stations to track down your movements inside the room, A Hub which will accumulate data and dispatch them to PC and Two Games – Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives developed by Owlchemy Labs and Fantastic Contraption developed by Northway Games.
VR Headset
The Vive Headset is loaded with front looking camera. In addition to this, Vive Headset is also enhanced with features likeAttached Microphone, which can be connected with smartphone using Bluetooth, andBluetooth Connectivity. Another unique feature provided by HTC is Vive Phone Services, where users are allowed to enjoy services like receiving calls, seeing text messages, read along calendar invitations and a lot more. HTC also claims that this edition of headset is much easy to wear. Unlike the prototype, Vive Headset is equipped with betterHead Strap, smooth finish and 2 Face Masks. Also long cables are provided which will help the user to walk around having the headset.
Pricing and Availability
HTC Vive is tagged with a price of $799. Even though it is almost $200 more than Facebook backed Oculus Rift, with the above features, HTC Vive is expected to get over. HTC declared that pre-orders will be starting from 29th February and shipment will be starting by April. Company also declared that HTC Vive will be available for pre-order in nearly 24 countries which will include New Zealand, United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, China, France, Taiwan, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Poland, Iceland, Norway, Italy, Netherlands and Canada.
PC Requirements
HTC declared certain minimum requirements for the PC for efficient functioning of HTC Vive. They include:
- Graphics support by Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or above.
- Processor of Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 equivalent or above.
- RAM of atleast 4GB or above.
- Video Output of HDMI v1.4, Display Port of v1.2 or latest.
- USB Port of v2.0 or above.
- OS of Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
