The Camera app needs a significant amount of power to operate effectively. If your device’s battery is low, make sure to charge it before using the app. Also, make sure you have not enabled the power-saving mode on your Android device so that the Camera app can use the necessary power without any limitations.

Check Storage Space

Insufficient storage space on your Android device can also lead to camera malfunctions. When your device’s storage is full, it may not be able to save new photos or videos captured by the camera. To address this issue, try deleting unnecessary files and apps or transferring data to an external storage device.

Check Permissions Settings

If you have accidentally disabled the Camera app’s access to the camera, please review and adjust your permissions settings. Navigate to your device’s settings, choose Apps, locate the camera app, and make sure all required permissions are enabled.

Close Background Apps

If multiple apps use your device’s camera simultaneously, it can cause the default Camera app to misbehave. So, make sure no other app is currently using the camera.

Too many apps running in the background can slow down your device and cause the camera app to freeze. Closing background apps can help free up memory, allowing the camera app to operate smoothly.

Uninstall Conflicting Apps

Certain third-party apps may interfere with the camera app, causing it to malfunction. Try uninstalling any recently downloaded apps to see if the camera starts working properly again.

Clean Camera Lens

A dirty camera lens can significantly impact the quality of your photos. To ensure clear and crisp images, take a soft cloth and gently wipe the camera lens to remove any dust, dirt, or fingerprints. Make sure that nothing else is obstructing the view.

Close and Relaunch the Camera App

One of the easiest ways to fix it is to close and reopen the camera app. If the app continues to be unresponsive despite numerous attempts, try performing a forced shutdown of the camera app. Go to Settings > Apps and select Camera. Then, tap on Force Stop.

The iPhone 16 has just been released, and I know many of you are wondering whether it’s better to go for the current year’s normal model or the previous year’s pro model. I totally get it! So, I thought we’d compare the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro, and I’m excited to show you that the right choice may not be the one you thought.

Table of Contents

The design

I’ll start with the external aspects, namely the design, and as you can see there are already a few small differences. In terms of available colors, it won’t be the same at all, since you’ll find barely 4 colors on the 15 Pro range, and you’ll have a few more colors on the iPhone 16. But keep in mind that tastes and colors are very subjective, and everything will depend on what you like. Of course, we’ll put a shell on it, but we can also put transparent shells on it to continue to see our iPhone and its finish.

On the other hand, what’s interesting to note is the different finishes, since on the back of both types of iPhone, you’ll find a matte glass back. And on the edges, you’ll find aluminum for the iPhone 16 and Titan for the iPhone 15 Pro. As it happens, aluminum on iPhones is a little less resistant, because even the slightest fall will cause white marks to appear, as the fall will remove some of the paint from the aluminum, which is less resistant than Titan.

What’s more, the non-professional models of the iPhone 16 feature some major innovations. An action button that was only available on last year’s pro range will be added. This will enable you to perform actions quickly, such as switching on the lamp. On the other hand, one of the things the iPhone 16 has that the iPhone 15 Pro doesn’t is a dedicated capture button for photos and videos.

Photos and videos

When it comes to photos and videos, the iPhone 15 Pro has more to offer than the iPhone 16. You can already see this when you turn the devices over. The iPhone 16 is simply equipped with two lenses, including a classic wide-angle lens combined with an ultra-wide-angle lens that has been upgraded this year to a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Whereas the iPhone 15 Pro features a classic wide-angle lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens with 12 million pixels and a x3 zoom. According to our tests, both iPhones still take great photos, but the iPhone 15 Pro offers far more video options.

In fact, the most important thing to remember here is that with the 15 Pro, you’ll have a few more creative options. For example, you’ll be able to use the x3 zoom. If you like to zoom, you won’t be able to do without the iPhone 15 Pro.  The 16s also have access to new photographic styles. So that’s not bad, for adding a little extra effect to your photos.

Night portraits, on the other hand, are once again reserved for the pro models, which have a lidar scanner that also enables them to make more precise use of all that’s augmented reality. Other features are also reserved for the pro model, such as the Apple Pro format. The iPhone 16, on the other hand, can film in Dolby Vision, which is not the case with the 15 Pro, up to 4K at 60 frames per second. On the other hand, the 15 Pro records in ProRes, up to 4K at 60 frames per second, and also has the Log format and other Pro options.

On the other hand, the iPhone 16 offers a feature not available on the iPhone 15 Pro. This is the ability to reduce wind noise directly in the camera settings. So if you ever want to shoot a video outside and it’s very windy, you’ll be able to attenuate the wind noise to keep your video sounding good. So there you have it, we’ve got a few extra tricks up our sleeve each time, but once again, it’s quality that counts. When it comes to photography, it all depends. Some people prefer renderings that are closer to reality, while others prefer renderings with a little more color, like those obtained with the iPhone 15 pro.

Displays

There’s not much difference here, as both are 6.1 inches. But the iPhone 16 has a little more edge than the iPhone 15 Pro. Where there is a big difference, however, is in the refresh rate. The iPhone 16 has 60 Hz, while the iPhone 15 Pro reaches 120 Hz. As with the border, you can see the difference when you place the two side by side. But then again, if you’ve never had an iPhone with a 120 Hz refresh rate, you won’t particularly notice the difference.

Basically, it will give you a little extra fluidity when you’re playing games or scrolling on your iPhone.  Otherwise, in terms of screen quality, whether you’re playing games, adjusting brightness, scrolling or watching content, it’s exactly the same. What’s more, both screens feature the Dynamic Island that saw the light of day with iPhone 14.  In case you didn’t know, this is what replaces the notch and lets you put ongoing activities inside. It can be music, your timer or a call. And of course, you’ll find the Face ID sensor in this Dynamic Island.

Performance

We’re going to find an Apple Bionic A17 Pro processor in the iPhone 15 Pro and an A18 in the iPhone. So, in practice, no matter which of the two iPhones you choose, you’ll get something ultra-smooth on which you can run absolutely anything without a care in the world.

For those of you who like numbers, Geekbench puts the iPhone 16 slightly ahead of the iPhone 15 Pro. So how will this translate into everyday use? If you’re editing photos or exporting videos on your iPhone, for example, you’ll save a few seconds on the iPhone 16 compared with the 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 also has Wi-Fi 7, while the 15 Pro has Wi-Fi 6E.  But otherwise, for everything else- games, multitasking, the RAM, etc, you won’t notice the difference at all.

Battery

The processor also comes into play for the battery and its lifespan, and above all I know that this is one of the major criteria for most of you when you go to buy a new product, and here, whether it’s with the iPhone 16 or the iPhone 15 pro, you’ll last your days without worry.

Indeed, with the 15 Pro since the switch to iOS 18, you’ll end your days with between 10% and 15% max battery, and it’s slightly better with the iPhone 16. As for charging, both are MagSafe compatible and charge via USB-C, but the 16 has the faster MagSafe charging up to 25W.  On the other hand, we still need to talk about Apple Intelligence, since at the time I’m shooting this video, Apple Intelligence isn’t available yet. It should come out with iOS 18.1, but both iPhones will be compatible with it once it’s available. Otherwise, battery life is slightly better on the 15 Pro despite the fact that its 3274 mAh capacity is below the 3561 mAh of the iPhone 16.

Pricing

At the moment, you can buy the 256 GB version of the iPhone 16 for $899 from Apple since it’s just been released, and you can get the iPhone 15 Pro for around $809 on Amazon.

Conclusion

Which iPhone should you choose? Well, that simply depends on what you want.

If you want an iPhone that’s a little better-finished and sturdier, that takes great photos, offers a little more video capability and zoom, and you want a 120Hz refresh rate, the iPhone 15 Pro could be the one for you. But if you’ve got an iPhone 12 and you’re thinking, “I don’t need a zoom, I don’t care about 120Hz,” then you could very well opt for an iPhone 16. So frankly, it can be a very good deal to go for an iPhone 16.

Then there’s the iPhone’s lifespan to consider. Because, even if these two iPhones last a very long time, you can be sure that you’re going to use them to perfection over the next 2 to 3 years.  On the other hand, if you really want your iPhone to last as long as possible, well, you might want to go for an iPhone 16, as its chip is newer, and will benefit from updates for much longer than the iPhone 15 Pro. So, once again, it’s not going to come down to much, it may come down to one or two years, but these are factors to take into account when buying an iPhone. And the same goes for resale! If you ever want to keep your iPhone for 2 or 3 years and then resell it, well, take that into account too.

In an increasingly connected world, the role of security in protecting personal and sensitive information has never been more critical. Smartphones, as ubiquitous companions in our daily lives, store a wealth of data ranging from financial information to personal communications, making data security a paramount concern.

Smartphones are susceptible to various security threats, including malware attacks, phishing schemes, and unauthorized access. Malware can infiltrate a device through malicious apps or links, compromising data integrity and privacy. Phishing attacks often trick users into divulging personal information, which can be used for fraudulent activities.

A smartphone lock screen is the first line of defense against these security threats. Each time you turn on your device or wake up the screen, you will be asked to unlock your device.

Types of Lock Screens in Smartphones

When choosing a lock screen for your smartphone, it’s essential to consider the pros and cons of each option to find the one that best suits your needs. Here’s a quick overview:

  1. Swipe: The swipe unlock method sets your device to unlock with a swipe across the screen. While this feature prevents accidental dialing, it does not secure the phone.
  2. PIN: If you picked a PIN code as your screen lock, enter a four or six-digit code to unlock the device. However, it can be guessed, stolen, or shared, compromising the security of the device.
  3. Pattern: A pattern lock involves drawing a specific pattern on a grid of dots to unlock the device. However, they are often predictable and can be discerned by observing smudge patterns on the screen.
  4. Password: When using a password lock, a variety of characters are combined to create a secure lock for your device. This can include a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols, with the option to use both lower and upper case letters. Opting for a lengthy and complex password provides the highest level of security. However, one drawback of password security is the inconvenience of having to enter a lengthy password each time.

Evolution of Biometric Locks

One technological advancement that has played a significant role in enhancing smartphone data security is biometrics. Biometrics have increased in popularity recently. Biometric security methods offer a robust solution to the limitations of traditional security measures.

Biometrics refers to the identification and authentication of individuals based on their unique biological characteristics. These characteristics include fingerprints, facial features, iris patterns, and even voice recognition. This technology has been adopted in various fields, including security, for its precision and reliability.

Biometric Lock Types in Smartphones

Fingerprint Lock

Fingerprint scanners have become a standard feature on many modern smartphones. Fingerprint recognition uses the distinct attributes of your fingerprint to access your device.

When setting up a fingerprint lock on your smartphone, the device captures and saves a digital image of your fingerprint. The next time you want to unlock your phone, you simply place your finger on the sensor, and if the scanned fingerprint matches the stored image, the phone will unlock.

Fingerprint Scanning

Facial Recognition

Facial recognition technology uses the distinct features of your face to authenticate and unlock your device. Once your facial data has been registered, you simply need to gaze at your device for it to unlock.

Facial Scanning and Facial Recognition

Iris Scanning

Iris scan captures the intricate patterns of your irises to create a lock for your device. These patterns are unique to each individual and extremely difficult to replicate, making iris authentication one of the most reliable methods to safeguard your phone.

Advantages

  • Biometrics add an extra layer of security.
  • They offer a seamless and user-friendly way to secure devices without the burden of remembering complex passwords and tricky patterns.

Challenges and Limitations

  • Privacy Concerns: Some users may feel uneasy about sharing their physical data or find the technology too intrusive.
  • Data Breaches: Biometric data stored on smartphones is typically encrypted and stored securely within the device’s hardware, making it challenging for hackers to access.
  • Accuracy and Reliability: Another limitation is the possibility of false positives or negatives. In some cases, the fingerprint sensor may fail to recognize the user’s fingerprint, leading to frustration and inconvenience.
  • Environmental factors such as lighting conditions or facial changes can affect the accuracy of the Facial recognition process. In order to use iris scanners, users may need to bring their phone close to their eyes and gaze into the camera.
  • Vulnerability to Spoofing: Certain biometric systems can be circumvented through high-quality images or 3D-printed replicas for facial recognition. Certain methods of bypassing these biometric safeguards have been widely reported, such as using a gummi bear or PVA glue to override Apple’s TouchID, or using a photograph to deceive facial recognition on Android.

However, no system is completely immune to breaches. Hackers can still find ways to spoof or trick biometric systems. Biometric data, unlike passwords, cannot be altered if compromised. If an unauthorized individual obtains someone’s biometric information, it may pose enduring security risks.

Latest Trends in Biometric Security Technology

One of the latest trends in biometric security is the integration of multiple biometric modalities, such as combining facial recognition with fingerprint scanning. This multi-modal approach enhances accuracy and reduces the likelihood of false positives or negatives.

In the future, smartphones may use behavioral biometrics to analyse your unique patterns and habits, such as typing speed, walking gait, or even how you hold your device.

How Biometrics Enhances Security

The current limitations of biometrics methods highlight the importance of multi-layered security approaches that combine biometrics with other methods for enhanced protection.

To use biometric features like fingerprint recognition for unlocking your device, you must first set up a backup lock method such as a PIN, pattern, or password. This is done to enhance security and may be required in certain situations, such as device restarts.

This layered approach of combining the traditional lock method with biometrics further enhances smartphone protection and makes it harder for attackers to compromise the device.

The realm of biometric security is constantly evolving, with new technologies and trends emerging to address existing challenges and enhance data protection. Stay informed about the latest advancements in smartphone security to ensure your data remains safe and secure. As technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative biometric solutions in the future.

Conclusion

When selecting security features, it is advisable to consider a combination rather than relying on a single one. However, the safest choice among them may be using a fingerprint biometric lock alongside a strong password. Whichever option you choose, lock screens should only be considered your first line of defence rather than a fool proof means of securing your device. So, it is crucial to regularly update your phone’s operating system and security settings and be cautious about sharing biometric data with third parties.

In the ever-changing landscape of technology, one element that continues to progress and captivate us is the evolution of smartphone cameras. From their modest beginnings, these compact lenses have transformed into formidable tools that compete with traditional cameras on various fronts.

This piece delves into the evolution of smartphone camera technology, analyzing the influence of megapixels on image quality and the incorporation of AI for improved photography features.

The Evolution of Camera Technology

The transition from film to digital cameras has brought about a notable technological advancement in the realm of photography. In the past, film cameras required cumbersome rolls of film that needed to be developed in a darkroom, limiting the number of shots you could take and requiring precision in each shot.

The transition to digital photography introduced sensors capable of converting light into electronic data, greatly improving the accessibility and convenience of image capturing. This digital transformation paved the way for the inclusion of cameras in mobile phones, fundamentally changing the way we document moments on the go.

Rise of Smartphone Cameras

The introduction of smartphones with built-in cameras began in the early 2000s, with companies like Nokia and Sony Ericsson leading the way. The early versions of smartphone cameras offered limited functionality and produced low-resolution images. Nevertheless, they laid the foundation for the development of more advanced camera systems in smartphones over time.

The Era of Megapixels

As technology continued to advance, smartphone manufacturers began competing in what came to be known as the “megapixel wars.” Consumers equated a higher number of megapixels with better image quality, leading to a race among smartphone manufacturers to pack as many megapixels as possible into their devices.

Megapixels, in simple terms, are the tiny dots that make up an image captured by a camera. The more megapixels, the greater the resolution of the image, theoretically leading to sharper details and clearer pictures. It’s like having more puzzle pieces to create a vivid picture-more megapixels mean more room for detail and finesse.

Megapixels in a photo of a butterfly

Nonetheless, increased megapixels can also lead to larger image files, which may pose challenges in terms of storage capacity and bandwidth when sharing. Additionally, packing more pixels onto small sensors can result in noise and decreased performance in low-light situations.

While a higher megapixel count can contribute to sharper images, it should not be considered the only determining factor in smartphone photography. Factors like sensor size, lens quality, and image processing algorithms play equally vital roles in producing great photos. So while a higher megapixel count can certainly lead to sharper images, it’s not the be-all and end-all when it comes to smartphone photography.

Some smartphones with 12MP sensors can produce superior results compared to those with 48 or even 108MP sensors. Therefore, a balanced combination of hardware and software is the true recipe for stunning smartphone photography.

Advancements in Smartphone Camera Evolution

The progression of smartphone cameras has been an intriguing voyage, as improvements in hardware and software capabilities continue to expand the possibilities of these devices.

Enhancing Optical Quality Through Multi-Lens Systems

Using multiple lenses in smartphone cameras offers a significant advantage in improving optical quality. By combining different types of lenses, manufacturers are able to reduce distortion, enhance sharpness, and improve color accuracy. This results in photos that are more true to life and visually stunning. Another benefit of multiple lenses is the ability to achieve different focal lengths without compromising image quality.

However, achieving the best results from your smartphone camera goes beyond simply pointing and shooting. This article aims to provide valuable tips and insights to help you maximize the potential of your smartphone camera.

Steadiness

When capturing images with your smartphone, any shaking or sudden movements can result in blurry or distorted pictures. It is crucial to keep the camera steady for clear and crisp images.

How to Achieve Steadiness While Taking Photos

  • Utilize both hands to hold your phone instead of just one.
  • Consider leaning against a solid surface such as a wall or table.

Tip: Avoid placing your finger near the lens to prevent blocking the shot.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Whether you are new to photography or have years of experience, consistent practice is essential. The more you practice taking photos, the more your skills will develop.

Your smartphone is a convenient tool for capturing great photos at any time and place. Instead of being content with just one shot, push yourself to explore different angles and perspectives by taking multiple images of the same subject.

Opt for lower or higher vantage points rather than shooting from eye level. Get creative by trying out shots from the side or above to achieve unique and dynamic results.

Refrain from Using Zoom

When capturing a photo from a distance, the inclination to zoom in on a particular element can compromise the quality of the image.

Instead, consider physically moving closer to your subject, unless it is a wild animal, in which case maintaining a safe distance is recommended. Otherwise, capture the photo from a standard distance and adjust the framing during post-processing.

Use Natural Light

Understanding the importance of lighting is crucial in the world of photography. The way light is harnessed and manipulated can significantly impact the overall quality of an image.

  • Utilize natural light as much as possible by taking photos outdoors or near a window. This provides an opportunity to experiment with shadows and silhouettes created by various ambient light sources.
  • The golden hour, occurring shortly after sunrise or before sunset, is a coveted time for photographers. The warm, enchanting light during this period can elevate even a simple selfie into a work of art.
  • Harsh shadows can quickly detract from the quality of a photo, often resulting in unflattering raccoon eyes on your subjects. If you are unable to avoid direct sunlight, consider using a reflector or white paper to bounce light back onto your subject and eliminate unflattering shadows.

]]>
With the widespread use of cell phones in our daily lives, concerns about their potential health effects, particularly regarding radiation, have become a topic of discussion. While there is ongoing research to determine the long-term effects of cell phone radiation, one important metric to consider is the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide to cell phone radiation, focusing on the SAR value and its significance in evaluating potential health risks. By understanding SAR and taking necessary precautions, users can make informed decisions about their cell phone usage.

What is SAR and How is it Measured?

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is a measure of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the human body when exposed to radio frequency electromagnetic fields emitted by cell phones. It is typically expressed in units of watts per kilogram (W/kg). SAR values are determined through standardized laboratory tests that simulate the maximum radio frequency exposure when a phone is used against the head or body.

SAR Guidelines and Limits

To ensure the safety of cell phone users, regulatory bodies around the world have set SAR limits. These limits vary from country to country but are generally based on recommendations provided by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States. Manufacturers are required to ensure that their devices comply with these SAR limits before they can be sold in the market.

Interpreting SAR Values

When considering the SAR value of a cell phone, it’s important to understand the significance of the measurements. SAR values are measured in terms of the maximum radiation absorption by tissues located closest to the cell phone’s antenna. It is crucial to note that lower SAR values do not necessarily imply a complete absence of risk, as individual sensitivities and exposure duration can vary.

Factors Affecting SAR Levels

Several factors influence the SAR value of a cell phone, including the device’s design, antenna placement, and power output. Additionally, network conditions, such as weak signals or poor reception, can cause the phone to increase its power output, potentially leading to higher SAR values. It’s worth noting that using accessories such as headsets or speakerphones can significantly reduce the SAR exposure as the distance between the device and the body is increased.

SAR and Health Concerns

The impact of cell phone radiation on human health is a topic of ongoing research. While some studies suggest a potential link between long-term exposure to radio frequency radiation and certain health effects, including cancer and reproductive issues, no conclusive evidence has been found to establish a direct causative relationship. Organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) continue to monitor research developments and provide guidelines for safe cell phone usage.

Minimizing SAR Exposure

To reduce exposure to cell phone radiation, several precautions can be taken. These include:

  1. Distance: Maintain a distance between the body and the phone, as SAR levels decrease significantly with distance. Use hands-free options like speakerphones or headsets whenever possible.
  2. Duration: Limit the duration of cell phone calls, particularly those made without a headset. Regularly taking breaks from phone usage can help reduce exposure.
  3. Signal Strength: Use your phone in areas with good signal reception to prevent it from operating at higher power levels.
  4. Children and Pregnant Women: As a precautionary measure, children and pregnant women are often advised to limit their cell phone usage due to potential vulnerability.

Research and Future Developments

Ongoing research continues to explore the potential long-term health effects of cell phone radiation. As technology evolves, manufacturers are also striving to develop safer cell phone designs that minimize SAR exposure. New materials, antenna placements, and improved power management techniques are being explored to reduce radiation absorption without compromising device performance.

As the use of cell phones remains an integral part of our lives, it’s essential to be informed about the potential health risks associated with their radiation emissions. The SAR value provides a standardized measure to evaluate exposure levels and compare different cell phone models. While there is no conclusive evidence linking cell phone radiation to adverse health effects, it is prudent to take precautionary measures to minimize exposure. By following guidelines, maintaining distance, and using accessories, users can mitigate potential risks while enjoying the benefits of cell phone technology.

Do you want to buy a new smartphone and wonder which one to choose? The experts of our team have created a dedicated guide for you.

So, if you’re looking for a specific price range or brand, you can find the perfect smartphone with this guide. Without further due, here are the factors you should take into account when you buy a smartphone.

The size of the phone

Between a 6.3-inch and a 4.7-inch smartphone, there is a big difference. If you often watch videos, if you are a big fan of video games or if you use your smartphone for office work or generally in a professional setting, a large screen brings more comfort for both consultation and typing.

A smaller screen, on the other hand, will be easier to fit in a pocket and easier to hold. The current trend is towards large screens, which is bad for fans of small smartphones.

The operating system

This is a matter of taste. Without going into details, Android is very dominant today and offers great freedom to the user. As a direct consequence, it is also the least secure since it concentrates the vast majority of viruses and other malware on mobiles.

In contrast, Apple’s iOS is renowned for its security and ease of use, but remains a closed system, with the constraints that this implies.

Another aspect to take into account is the number of applications available on the different stores. iOS and Android are still leading the race with hundreds of thousands of free or paid applications.

The camera (photo function)

Many users pay special attention to their smartphone’s camera, and for good reason: what could be more practical than a phone to capture their favorite vacation moments? So, beware of the manufacturers’ glittering figures, millions of pixels are not everything.

Other important criteria must be taken into account, such as the zoom, the HDR function (process of optimization of the shooting), the Led Flash, the Panorama mode, the stabilization or the slow-motion mode. The editing and sharing options should not be neglected either. Apple and Sony are known for the quality of their smartphone sensors.

Today, manufacturers are multiplying the sensors and lenses to offer more creative ways to take pictures. The optical zoom will delight lovers of distant details, the ultra-wide-angle mode will be perfect for landscapes or group photos while the macro mode will be used to observe the small details of everyday life.

RAM and Processor

The RAM, as well as the processor are a central element in the power of smartphones and tablets. It is this duo that determines the overall performance of the device, its responsiveness, etc. Often indicated on the technical data sheet of the device, it is therefore an easily accessible information and a non-negligible criterion to integrate before choosing your phone.

The RAM of the new smartphones ranges from 4 to 18 GB. The higher the number, the better the multitasking experience.

Regarding processors, there are several manufacturers, however, it is the “Qualcomm Snapdragon” that equips a large part of Android phones. On the other hand, the Apple iPhone features Bionic chips that have been developed by the American firm.

Battery life

Here again, this is a very important factor. Many smartphones don’t last 2 days in intensive use, and that’s unfortunate. The problem is that the quality of the battery decreases very quickly over time. To put yourself in the green area, always take a look at the initial displayed autonomy and try to take the biggest one possible, but we think that you have to either follow the recommendations to charge your battery well.

To improve your smartphone battery

Sim card: Normal, Micro, Nano, and Dual SIM

Today, you can find 3 different sizes of SIM card: micro-sim, standard and nano-sim. The standard format is no longer very popular, only the micro and nano formats remain. But, the size of the sim card has no impact on the quality of reception/connection of calls or the internet. It is Apple who is at the origin of the nano format, and it was to save space in their design of the iPhone. It is also possible to buy dual-sim smartphones to have 2 SIM card slots.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value

The SAR value is also a crucial factor to consider when buying a smartphone. SAR measures the amount of radio frequency (RF) energy absorbed by the human body when using a mobile device. A lower SAR value indicates that a smartphone emits less RF radiation, potentially reducing the health risks associated with prolonged exposure.

Prioritizing a low SAR value is essential to avoid health effects, especially if you plan to use the devices extensively or are in close contact with them on a regular basis.

A universal charger

Today, USB-C charger has become the new standard. Most Android phones have opted for this practical and reversible port. Only Apple persists with its Lightning port still present on the iPhone. In the meantime, if you buy an Android phone, chances are it will be equipped with a USB-C port, which has become the most popular option.

Apple has announced four new smartphones iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 pro, and iPhone 14 pro max. But unfortunately, this year there will be no iPhone 14 mini.

Between a 48MP main photo sensor featuring ProRAW format, state-of-the-art screen brightness, Dynamic Island, A16 Bionic chip and the Neural Engine, the iPhone 14 pro is full of new amazing features hidden behind an almost unchanged design overall. And in this article, we break them down for you in detail.

Design

design

Without moving away too far from the iPhone 13 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro is full of new innovations in terms of design. Indeed, on the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple pulled out the heavy artillery by equipping it with a Super Retina XDR screen of 6.1 inches, whose resolution is 2532 by 170 pixels at 460 dpi, and a Gorilla Glass that protects the screen against violent shock or scratches.

It weighs just 172 g, has a stainless-steel case available in four colors: black, silver, gold and intense purple. The stereo speaker and a microphone are located at the bottom edge next to the charging socket and the buttons are on the side.

Apple has also removed the notch from its screen. This is the novelty of the iPhone 14 pro, and it is directly visible. Indeed, the notch becomes a small black pill around the photo sensor, and this pill has been wrapped in a fully integrated interface that is called the dynamic Island, representing a paradise island in the middle of this ocean of infinite screen which is iPhone 14 pro.

As you can see, there are a lot of stylish and interesting little animations that have been created around this pill that make the screen of the iPhone 14 pro completely alive. It will really make you want to have fun with this little dynamic Island.

It’s true that it’s almost the same size as the notch on the iPhone 13 pro, the iPhone 14 pro has just recovered a little bit of the screen above to form the pill, and we think it’s very clever of Apple to keep this pill format in the middle of the smartphone at the top, it’s very distinctive and it allows them to sell the dynamic Island that you won’t get on the iPhone 14.

Because the iPhone 14 keeps the notch of the iPhone 13. And if you buy the iPhone 14, you won’t be able to take advantage of this new and stylish feature.

Of course, this cutout is only part of the Super Retina XDR screen that can now reach a brightness of up to 2,000 nits for better visibility in bright light.

On this phone, there is also a very interesting new feature thanks to the new screen, the Always on display mode. In this regard, Apple takes advantage its OLED screen, whose consumption is well controlled by adding the LTPO. This technology offers a dynamic refresh rate.

Now, the refresh rate varies between 10 and 120 hertz when the smartphone is in use and can be reduced to 1 Hz when the screen is in standby mode. 1 Hertz means that the screen is refreshed every second, which reduces power consumption. As a result, Apple indirectly introduces a screensaver that displays information continuously, even when the smartphone is locked.

Camera

camera

On this model, the front camera and Face ID sensors are positioned in the dynamic island we mentioned earlier so they don’t ruin the design.

On the backside, we immediately notice it’s huge photo module that features three camera sensors including a wide-angle sensor which is most interesting to us, because it’s a 48-megapixel sensor.

The main 48-megapixel camera module is therefore the biggest photographic improvement between generations of iPhone for quite some time. Because with up to 4,000 billion photographic calculations achievable per shot, they have the juice to make the most of those 48 million photosites in this new sensor.

Even more, with the iPhone 14 pro, Apple also introduces the pixel binning, which means you can use all those megapixels to get excellent and more pronounced photos even in low light. But we’re still on a smartphone, so the heart of the work is the algorithm and here, Apple really use its software expertise through its ProRAW format.

Indeed, all high-end Android smartphones such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra use a similar technique, but Apple is the only player at the moment with a RAW format that makes it possible to shoot 48-megapixel pro RAW files. So, this would allow photographers who are more experienced to get a lot of data from the RAW files in order to retouch them more in depth.

Another interesting improvement here is the availability of the Cinematic mode in 4K-30p in addition to the 4K-24p of the previous generation. A good plus for productions that are intended for web-TV and not for cinema.

We also like to emphasize the fact that an ultra-wide-angle sensor of 12 Mpx is also present on this Pro model. The other bonus of the iPhone 14 pro comes from the stabilization, and Thanks to its Action Mode, you can take advantage of the sensor’s superior image definition to produce a very well stabilized 4K video stream, a kind of HyperSmooth from GoPro, which means you can do without a gimbal in certain scenes.

Overall, the camera section of the iphone 14 pro includes, a 48MP main camera, f/1.78, a 12MP telephoto, f/2.8, 12MP ultra-wide, f/1.8, and 12MP front camera (f/1.9, autofocus).

Hardwares and Softwares.

processor

Under the hood, everything runs on a new chip called the A16 Bionic, it is a new chip that is more powerful, or performance 40% higher than the competition and consume substantially less energy. This chip succeeds the A15 Bionic of the iPhone 13 and the brand reserves a surprise here by offering this new SoC only on the “Pro” models.

Moreover, compared to the iPhone 13 pro, the bandwidth memory of the iPhone 14 pro has been increased by 50%. Apple also mentions having equipped this jewel with a new AI technology called Neural Engine. With its 16 cores, it can handle 17 trillion operations per second, and Apple emphasizes the importance of this chip in taking pictures. On the memory side, the iPhone 14 Pro is available in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

Security features.

When it comes to security, the TrueDepth sensor is available on iPhone 14 Pro, and it also supports the new car accident detection features developed by Apple, as well as satellite communication for emergency messages.

iOS 16 is also a whole bunch of other features aimed at protecting your personal data better than the solutions offered on Android. Among them, the Locate app finds your lost iPhone, iCloud+ can hide your email address and the iMessage format encrypts your exchanges from end to end.

The water resistance of the iPhone 14 Pro is amazing, it can last around 30 minutes under water at a depth of up to 6 meters.

Battery and connectivity

As far as autonomy and recharge are concerned, the iPhone 14 Pro can last up to 23 hours in video playback and about 20 hours in video streaming, and you will have 50 % full battery after 30 minutes of charging with a 20W adapter.

It is true that we would have liked to switch to USB C, but no, we stay on traditional Lightning port. Indeed, the Lightning port remains limited if you want to transfer large files because of its slow speed.

The iPhone 14 pro also offers 5G connectivity, the most advanced generation of Bluetooth, as superfast Wi-Fi, files transfer with the AirDrop technology and a Lightning port remains.

Conclusion

Every year, Apple offers special features that are only available on its Pro models. Most of the new features are thus concentrated in this iPhone, such as the new notch less design of the screen and the 10 to 120 Hz screen with its Always on-screen mode, a new powerful A16 Bionic chip, the 48-megapixel camera; and it’s also the first phone of the manufacturer that offers a screen of 2,000 nits.

The case is made of stainless steel with four colors available, Silver, Black, Gold and Deep Purple. Even more, among the small software novelties, there is the Dynamic Island which is quite the trend now. It is a small black pill around the selfie photo sensor that gives you access to the most important notifications.

We think the secret weapon of the outstanding display of this phone is its “Super AMOLED Plus.” Indeed, thanks to it, a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (density of 392 pixels per inch) and its refresh rate of 120 hertz, your images, videos, texts are displayed smoothly, the contrast is almost perfect and the blacks are finer. Unfortunately, there is no charger in the box.

The screen is also equipped with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, which protects the phone from accidental drops (small objects falling on the phone, dropping the phone itself, sleeping on the phone by accident). Like many other users, we don’t like the much the unavailability of the HDR10 playback on Amazon Prime. And we hope that Samsung’s next updates will offer us this useful feature.

The back of the phone has a minimalist design with a stunning Samsung logo. Like the volume buttons, the power button is placed on the side and contains the fast fingerprint scanner. Like many users, we are not thrilled by the fact that this smartphone comes without a headphone jack, and although this offers some advantage (Low price, improved waterproofing, a better IPS in General) it remains a drawback. But overall, we love the elegant and minimalist design of the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G.

The Cameras

Samsung Galaxy M53 5G - Front and Back Camera

On the back, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is equipped with a quad-camera setup with a main camera resolution of 108 megapixels. It is supplemented by an ultra-wide-angle camera as well as a depth and macro camera, which are supposed to enable creative and high-resolution pictures. The front-facing camera takes high-resolution selfies with 32 megapixels and has a wide-angle lens for a group selfie function.

This camera combination shows us that the Korean giant has considerably improved its digital photography technology, as evidenced by this smartphone. We loved the photos taken in full daylight with its 108MP main camera: details are sharp in all areas. We also love the 108MP UHD mode it features. It delivers a maximum photo resolution without increasing the size of the pictures.

Amazing performance

Instead of relying on an in-house processor like in the Galaxy A53 5G, the Galaxy M53 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 900 that can easily handle all your daily tasks (calls, messages, photos, browsing, playing your favorite games, multitasking, and more). Moreover, like the Exynos 1280, the MediaTek Dimensity 900 relies on two fast Cortex-A78 and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores and achieves the same clock rates as the chip in the Galaxy A53 5G.

The Galaxy M53 5G is available with

  • 6 GB RAM and 128 GB expandable storage
  • 8 GB RAM and 128 GB expandable storage

However, in terms of performance, we feel that the phone is not very suitable for heavy operations that require a lot of resources (graphics, processor).

We love the phone’s Operating system and interface. The Samsung Galaxy m53 5G run on Android v12.0, One UI 4 operating system, and like all mid-range smartphones, it comes with pre-installed apps. You can easily disable/uninstall them in the configurations. We cannot talk about the performance of this smartphone without mentioning the wonders its One Ul. Featuring amazing features like the ability to protect your sensitive folders, smart widgets, assisted photo and video shooting, a beautiful dark mode, and many more. The bad news is that this phone has mono speakers instead of stereo speakers like most smartphones we are used to. But it is amazingly loud and the sound quality is excellent.

Security

The Galaxy M53 5G features the Samsung Knox security platform, which has been integrated into both the hardware and software of the device. Thanks to it, your phone is safeguarded from the moment you turn it on for the first time, and thanks to this technology, a multi-level protection prevents malware and other advanced security threats from making unwanted changes. You can also benefit from the Secure Folders to store private files like photos and videos, word documents, pdf, apps and data.

Connectivity

And as the name already reveals, the smartphone supports the current mobile standard 5G. Thanks to 5G connectivity, the Galaxy M53 5G offers a fast access to the Internet – large files download, gaming via cloud services or live streaming are easily achievable. The Hybrid SIM slot accommodates with either two nano-SIM cards or a microSD card for one nano-SIM for memory expansion of up to 1 Terabyte. Furthermore, the connectivity standards include WiFi 5 (ac, dual band), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and navigation via A-GPS, Galileo, QZSS, etc.

Battery

The performance of the battery is also outstanding. As in the Galaxy M52 5G, a 5,000 mAh battery is used. As Samsung says, the smartphone can last up to 19 hours while playing videos continuously. Another great advantage of this is the quick charging feature. Indeed, thanks to the 25-watt fast-charging function, only two hours is needed to recharge the battery (100%).

Conclusion.

Samsung’s M series models offer an excellent value for money (Better than the A series, and the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is the perfect example. It is cheap, powerful, has an excellent 108MP main camera and offers security features that we love. It is better than most phones in this price range and it is an excellent phone for your daily activities. You get amazing performance while using apps.

But if you are looking for a phone to play heavy games, take and edit photos and videos, then the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is definitely not for you.
