CDI Computers lines up EduGear Chromebooks to gear up Education
CDI computers lined up its product line with new series of laptops. They launched three series namely M-series, J-series and R-series. All the three series works on the Chrome platform. All these laptops are available in an improved case. As the name suggests they are targeted on education purpose and are expected to be used by school going or college students. So the company has provided a warranty package that extends upto 4 years, in order to cover up the potential damages that are expected to happen when handled by students.
EduGear M2 and M4
EduGear M2 and M4, both functions on the processor of Rockchip RK3288 ARM Cortex A17 featuring quad core processing. Both these Chromebooks have got a storage capacity of 16GB. Both these devices support a WiFi connectivity if bandwidth of 802.11ac and also support Bluetooth connectivity of version 4.0. They are also packed with a USB version 2.0 for data transferring, HDMI port, headset jacks and SD card slots. Both these models have an inbuilt camera of 1MP power. They also have a battery with a capacity of 4200mAh which is enough to keep the device live for upto 10 hours. The only difference between M2 and M4 is in the case of RAM. M2 packs with a RAM of 2GB whereas M4 packs with a RAM of 4GB.
EduGear J2 and J4
The specification of J2 and J4 are similar to that of devices of M-series. They functions on processors from Rockchip and has a storage capacity of 16GB. It has got a WiFi connectivity with the same bandwidth of 802.11ac and also with the same Bluetooth version of 4.0. The USB packs with version 2.0, also has HDMI ports and headset jacks. The difference comes in the case of battery and camera. The battery is with a capacity of 3400mAh which powers the device for a time period of 9 hours. The camera comes with 1.3MP. J-series is packed with microSD card reader instead of full sized SD card slot as in M-series.
EduGear R2 and R4
R-series devices are the only model that is packed with processor from Intel. They function on Celeron N2940 from Intel. They are packed with a battery of 3200mAh capacity which is enough to hold the device for upto 9 hours. Also this is the only model that has USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. The camera of R-series has got improved as they come with 2MP with rotating feature to face front or back of the device. All other specifics remain the same as that of above two series of devices. Like the above two series, they have got 16GB storage space, WiFi with 802.11ac bandwidth, Bluetooth with 4.0 version and HDMI port.
Pricing and Availability
Price of these models varies from $179 for the model that functions on Rockchip RK3288 processors and $249 that functions on Intel Celeron Bay Trail processers. Unfortunately no information is available regarding the shipping details of the devices.
