Apple Provides for Refund for purchase of Apps after Review

Home » Apple Provides for Refund for purchase of Apps after Review

It is common that you make a purchase of particular App from iOS App Store or Mac App Store and you confront with any issues. For these issues you could claim refund from Apple. But do remember that this is not an automatic process. For getting refund, you have to initiate the process for refund. After initiating the request from your end, Apple will review the request and take necessary action. The same can be applied to iTunes purchases which include books, movies, TV shows and music. This application is not connected to iOS App Store. So you have to use iTunes on your system or Apple’s Website to proceed for refund.

How This Works

Users are allowed to claim refund for the purchases made within a period of 90 days. While in Android Google Play you are allowed to claim refund within 2 hours of purchase without asking any questions. Apple doesn’t offer such automatic refunds. Inorder to get refund you have to Report a Problem, on the basis of purchase made, then choose a particular problem. After that you have to elaborate this reason. Such includes the options like, I didn’t authorize this purchase, Item didn’t download or can’t be found, Item won’t install or downloads too slowly, Items opens but doesn’t function as expected and Problem is not listed here. You can pick any one of the problem listed above and tell your problem. Then the Customer Care wing of Apple look on to your problem and within a period of two or three days, you will get a callback from them.

Using Apple’s Website

iTunes directly take you to the Apple’s website. This prevents you from going to iTunes and access the request form directly from Apple’s website directly. Inorder to do so, you have to get to Report a Problem page seen on Apple’s site. You have to Sign In with the help of your Apple ID, then you have to select Apps and again tap on Report a Problem. There you can opt for refund and mention the reason for the refund.

Start From Your Email

Apple used to send a receipt to your email-id and this includes the option namedReport a Problem. With the help of this you can report your issues and claim your refund. So with the use of your email-id, you could claim your refund. This can be done by opening your mail-id and search for the name of the particular application. By clicking on the above option, you could report a problem to Apple and claim for refund.

Using iTunes

Apple also allows this particular feature in iTunes available on Mac and Windows PCs. But before you initiate the process through iTunes, you must understand one thing that, this is the most slow of claiming your refund. For initiating the process, you must open iTunes in your Mac and Windows PC. Now you have to tap on the option Account Info, which you can see on the right top of iTunes window. But you have to remember to enter your Apple ID and password whenever required. You are allowed to go through Purchase History by tapping on, See All. This will allow you to see the purchases that you made. Now you have to select the application for which you have to get refund. If this App comes as a portion of a group of apps, then you have to tap on the left arrow button. Now you have to select the option Report a Problem. Sometimes this option can be seen as such on the screen. This option can be seen on the right side of each application. You have to select this option for getting refund for that particular application. This will take you to Apple’s own website where you have to Log-in. There you have to select the reason for refund also.
