Samsung’s Gear devices always excited the users. During the IFA 2016 at Berlin they launched another Gear device to join the league. Now they have come up with Gear S3, which is a clear improvisation of earlier Gear S2. But unlike the previous one, Gear S3 features two more distinct features. Gear S3 is featured by LTE connectivity as well as independent GPS connectivity. Another exciting thing is that the Korean Company now launched two variants of Gear S3 namely the Classic and Frontier.
Gear S3’s both variants have round shaped shell with bezels around. Among the two, Frontier seems to be muscular with its thicker body and Matte Finish design. The Classic is having an elegant look with its Stainless Steel body. Classic is aimed at those who prefer some kind of ethnic look in their device. Gear S3 is suitable with 22mm straps. The measurements of Frontier come to be 46mm*49mm*12.9mm with a weight of just 62 grams, while Classic weighs just 57 grams with the same dimension. The IP68 certification promises that Gear S3 is water proof as well as dust resistant.
The display extends upto 1.3 inches edge to edge. The resolution comes to be 360 pixels, which makes it slightly advanced Gear than S2. The Super AMOLED display is having 278 PPI and is guarded with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+
Gear S3 is having a Dual-Core processor that clock at 1GHz. With the RAM of 768MB they can perform well with its Exynos processors. The internal storage is restricted to 4GB. Gear S3 functions on Samsung’s own Tizen OS of v2.3.2. This makes it compatible with smartphones functioning on Android OS v4.4 or above along with a RAM of atleast 1.5GB. Samsung also promised that Tizen App store will be crowded with atleast 10,000 apps supporting Gear S3.
Dedicated GPS and LTE Connectivity
The distinct feature of Gear S3 is the GPS and LTE connectivity. It has got in-built LTE Radio connectivity featured by microphone and speaker that supports HD voice calls. Apart from this the dedicated GPS connectivity without tethering seems to be an added advantage. They also support Bluetooth connectivity with v4.2.
Gear S3 is having a battery capacity of 380mAh. The official’s promises that this battery could hold the device live for nearly 3-4 days. There are two power saving modes also. One that automatically Turns-On at 15% and another one starts functioning at 5% to show only time by limiting other functions.
Gear S3 is launched at CES 2016. It is expected to make its way to shelves only by the end of this month. For the time being pricing details are also not available.
