Most of the smartphone users are often worried about their handsets when they got damaged. Usually due to negligence in usage they get it damaged by dropping the handsets on floor or just drop in water. Most of the companies provide free repairs for the damages causing within in the first year of purchase, but do not provide any replacement for the handsets. Due to this most of the handset users spend few more bucks on purchase of certain cases for their phones inorder to provide an extra security.
Certain smartphone companies provide some extended free repairmen warranty with payment of a fixed sum of money. But here HTC has gone far ahead of all other smartphone manufactures. The new initiative named ‘UH OH protection’ by HTC promises to replace the device for all the damages happening within the first year of purchase of phone. For the time being this facility will be initiated for their newly launching M9 series of smartphones which is going to launch in American markets.
Another highlight of this initiative is that if a particular user is able to withhold his handset without any damage for one from the date of its purchase then he can claim a sum of $100 as cash back for any subsequent purchase from HTC. It means that those users who do not take up the advantage of ‘UH OH’ will be entitled to get $100 back on next purchase of HTC device. Initially tech world thought this as just a rumour. But the news has been confirmed by HTC press meet.
It is said by the officials of HTC that the decision was taken on the basis of survey conducted by Google Insights. The survey revealed that 69% of responded that they got their handsets damaged within an year of purchase. 25% are using a damaged phone and 47% paid fairly handsome amount to repair their handset. So HTC R&D team finally concluded with providing this premium facility than by provision of any extended warranty facility.
Tech markets already responded positively to this news from HTC. They however demanded that this facility should be made also to the existing handsets of HTC sold last year also. With this mind-blowing offer the Taiwanese smartphone company expects to broaden its clutches in smartphone markets. Initially company guarantees this facility only to M9 sets but soon expected to expand it to other handsets also. Company could benefit from this by expanding their markets and customer could benefit by the guarantee of new phone or $100. So its just a win-win offer for both sides.
