On 31st March, Microsoft announced the Surface 3, which features the same attractive design and premium materials as Surface Pro 3 in a more compact and efficient package.
Look and Feel:
It is 8.7 mm thin and weigh 1.37 pounds (622 grams) and has a display of 10.8 inches. Compared to the 12-inch Surface Pro 3 it is slightly smaller and hence slightly convenient to handle. The Aspect ratio of 3:2 is just perfect for different viewing angles be it the portrait mode or the landscape mode. It offers world class multi touch and pen experience. It is supported on a kickstand which is common in all Surface devices, and this stand can be removed when not in use.
Surface 3 Camera:
Surface 3 has a front camera of 3.5 MP and rear camera of 8 MP. Both the cameras have the ability to capture 1080p video. The rear camera supports autofocus to capture better photos but is also particularly useful for taking images of documents.
The battery can easily run for 10 hours. For Surface 3, a Micro USB charger is also provided. The included 13W charger will be the fastest charging option and in case your phone battery is running low you can use your phone charger as well.
Surface 3 comes with Full Windows and Office:
Surface 3 will feature full 64 bit Windows 8.1 OS and will be available with Windows Pro for business customers. The customers can upgrade to Windows 10 when available. It can be used to handle complex desktop applications as well as games. The device can be switched between a laptop and tablet. Surface 3 will also include a free one year subscription to Office 365 Personal, including full versions of Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote as well as 1 TB of drive storage. Powered by a quad-core Intel Atom X7 processor, the Surface 3 features a fan less design with 2GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.0 low energy and 4G LTE. The Surface 3 has physical connectivity options to connect to other devices like USB 3.0 port, a Mini DisplayPort, a Micro USB, and a microSD card reader.
The Performance is quite appreciable. Surface 3 is powered by Intel’s newest system-on-a-chip, the quad-core Intel Atom X7 processor which is the highest performing Atom processor in the market. It features a unique combination of burst mode and advanced power management which means it delivers performance for a given task, but also looks to save power whenever possible. It also does not require a fan for cooling, which allows the device to be thinner and perform quiet operation. If you do highly demanding tasks – things like editing and rendering video or complex 3D modelling etc., then the power and performance of a Surface Pro 3 is just a perfect choice for you. Even for tasks like Office , surfing the Internet , casual games and entertainment, then you will find that Surface 3 suits your need.
The base version of Surface 3 has a price of $499 and its 4G LTE version will cost you $599. Both these come with 2GB RAM and 64GB storage. You can purchase a higher version with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage space by paying a few more bucks. The enhanced model is priced at $599 for base model(supports 3G) and $699 for 4g LTE version.
