Moto G 2015 – High-end Smartphone with Medium Price Range

Smartphones » Moto G 2015 – High-end Smartphone with Medium Price Range

Moto G series of Motorola are premium level smartphones that hit the market. When it launched its 3rd generation handsets popularly known as Moto G 2015, they not only focused on launching medium range handsets, but also focused on enhancing their features. But I must say that they didn’t achieved perfection still they have done it excitingly. For the users, when they look up the handset, the smartphones belongs to the entry level but with improved features, yet keeping a low price profile. With the impressive features like durability and high-class design, they set apart their previous models.

The smartphone looks almost alike the previous versions, but still have some tricky features which will excite its users. The mid-plate bezel adds beauty to its design but the metallic frame around the camera seems to be little clumsy. The new Moto G’s design looks alike as that of Moto X Style. The buttons are neatly arranged with artistic excellence. The power button is positioned just above the volume controller to the right side of the device. The headphone jack is placed the centre on the top of the device. The left side of the device is left empty and carries no controllers or buttons. The Micro-USB port is sticked to the bottom side of the gadget. On the face of the gadget we have a 5.0 inched LCD screen with only one loudspeaker. The earlier models featured two such loudspeakers. This is quite disappointment for those who loved Moto G series. Another feature that is being added to the new gadget is the texture finished back pane of the device, which inturn gives a firm grip while you are holding the handset. Again the curved design adds to the beauty of the gadget, but rear cover causes one of the key problem with the gadget is the IPX7 certification. IPX7 certification means that the device is resistant to water. But accidently when you drop your handset to water and got damaged, then you may not be able to claim warranty. But what Motorola has done is that, the design isn’t that great. They tried to create an impression before the users that their gadget is looking somethingspecial. They also provide customization option for their users without any add-on costs. The customer customization has been named as Moto Maker Program, where the users are allowed to alter certain settings in their handsets online. With the help of this customization, you will be able to alter gadget panels, accent, colour, storage and RAM settings, even write something on your handset permanently.

Display Features

Moto G

Just like the last year, Motorola has launched their latest handset with the same old 5.0 inch LCD display with a screen resolution of 720 pixel. This may cause some disappointment to someone who expected that they will be providing some better screen resolution along with 5-inched screen. As far as Motorola is concerned, they would like to keep the cost low as possible, so they might be providing the gadget with low screen resolution. Along with this they also have low PPI as low as 294. This low pixel density would result in low clarity when you view certain videos on Moto G 2015.The display screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, which can prevent scratches and fingerprints on the screen. The phone’s display performs at an average level when viewed on active sunlight. When these sets are compared with the competitor gadget from Vodafone, they provide HD screen with 720 pixel resolution at much low price tag. Still if you prefer a HD screen, then you can go for Moto X Play which costs slightly high when compared to Moto G.

Hardware Specialties

Behind the display, Moto G is loaded with an enhanced and extensively improved processor. In the launch of this device, Motorola followed the steps of other companies by introducing device with various variants. All these variants are powered by Quad Core processor with a processing speed of 1.4GHz. The primary 8GB versions is loaded with a RAM of just 1GB and the premium variants are loaded with much more RAM and storage capacity. The 16GB offers you a free space upto 11GB. Still if you prefer more storage space, then you can expand the same via memory card. The back panel of the gadget is removable but the battery is irremovable. The battery has the capacity of 2470mAh, which lasts from 16-18 hours. The battery will last long enough by providing a standby time for nearly 2-3 days, which is really impressive when compared to its competitors in the market. Thus the new gadget is loaded with an extra power capacity of nearly 400mAh when compared to its previous launch. In the midst of all the above, this handset doesn’t support fast charging, which inturn takes about 2 hours to juice it up. Overall when performance is considered, most of you would expect much less from a mid-range gadget. But when it comes to Moto G, you can expect more than an average performance when compared to other mid-range handsets.

Performance Specifics

The software of Moto G is added with certain specifications than the normal one. This makes a wide range of processes starting from multitasking to high level gaming handling is just a child’s play for its processor. In short, the gadget is capable of handling the tasks that you require it to perform. Moto G fortunately doesn’t have any RAM problems when handling many problems at the same time.

Camera Features

Moto G

Even though the price tag stands at mid-range, Motorola has an excellent camera on its back, which has the lens of capacity 13MP, along the very same sensor of Sony IMX214 that is seen in Nexus 6 from Google. This handset has got an aperture of f/2.0 aperture with the support of dual tone LED flash. The LED flash is loaded with an IR flash which helps in lessening the brightness. But the camera lacks image stabilization, which results in lack of clarity of images, if you don’t shoot them steadily. If you would like to capture images with add-on filters, then you may have to use third party applications.Capturing in full bright daylight will help you to get clarity images. Apart from other handsets, the HDR mode provides much variance to the images. The user is allowed to use manual exposure slider, which will help in getting images with hot zones and allow you to view these alterations with the help of viewfinder at the same time you make changes in settings. When summing up, during the daylight, the camera performs extremely great, but when natural light is gone, the image will be blurred.

Software Specifications

The device runs on Android which obviously means that it has got access to Google Now launcher. The Android OS is supported with certain applications from the company’s end. This will include Moto Display, which displays the pending notifications or shows you the time voluntarily, when you grab your phone or take it out of your pouch. Another such application is Moto Assist, which allows you to set custom manners for distinct locations. For instance, if the phone came to know that you are driving, then it will automatically deliver the messages directly to you and allows you to reply. These specifications will help you a lot in making your modern way of life too easy.

Price Tag

The variant that comes with 8GB storage and 1GB RAM costs you nearly $179, while the premium model with 16GB storage and 2GB RAM comes with a price tag of $219. If you try to enhance the features of your handset, then this price will go up and high again.

Final Verdict

Now some of you will be confused about the decision to buy your Moto G. When the performance of the handset is concerned, it seems that they perform better than those handsets available in the same price range as that of Moto G. This smartphone is packed with much number of positive features which can definitely outlay its few commendable flaws. If you are ready to have a compromise over the display, resolution, camera optimization and so on, then you may be able to grab a mid-range handset with high-end features. This will definitely the pockets who prefer budget and economic handsets.
