Taiwanese company MSI launched the lightest gaming notebook GS30 Shadow. The ultra laptop weighs just 1.3Kg. MSI claims that the amazing graphics powered by Intel Iris Pro is designed and targeted to cope up with a majority of gaming titles. Performance is double as compared to its predecessor.
GS30 Shadow sports the latest fourth-generation top-tier Intel Core i7 with Iris Pro, integrated graphics processor (IGP), to render the on-screen action. It features DX11.1, OpenCL 1.2, OpenGL 4.0 and enhanced 4k x 2k output. The laptop is specifically designed for mobile gamers. With it being incredibly thin and insanely powerful, the gamers do not have to compromise on portability and performance.
It has a 13.3 inch anti-glare screen with wide viewing angles and a resolution of 2560×1440, memory of 16GB, an SSD storage option taken care of by a two M.2 solid state drives in a RAID array. Other features include a backlit keyboard, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI-out, an SD card reader, Intel 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity, a 720p webcam, Intel Iris Pro graphics, and a 4-cell battery. It runs Windows 8.1 and the GamingDock. The built-in 4-Cell Li-Ion is charged via a 65W power adapter and the whole package excluding the GamingDock weighs 1.3kg.
One essential feature of GS30 Shadow is the GamingDock. The GamingDock is a bulky desktop chassis onto which the laptop can sit. When paired with the MSI GamingDock the laptop can be used as a desktop machine and once portability is required the unit can be disconnected from the GamingDock and used as a standalone laptop. The MSI GS30 Shadow gaming laptop has no discrete graphics, but when it is paired with the GamingDock it can run a full-size desktop PCI Express graphics card. You can insert your own choice desktop discrete graphics card and enjoy a full bandwidth of PCI Express x16 port. With docking, gamers are able to experience enhanced graphics and stunning visual effects.
It is not clear about the interface which pairs the MSI GS30 and the GamingDock.

So what makes GS Shadow unique is its secret weapon, the GamingDock, which when paired to the laptop you will enjoy the power of a desktop machine and when unpaired the portability of a laptop.
The laptop and GamingDock are expected to launch in January next year. Pricing is yet to be announced.
