On Tuesday, Acer announced the launch of a set of netbooks intended for online purpose. The company named them as Aspire One Cloudbook series. On seeing the devices you may get confused them for Chromebooks, when looked from the perspective of Windows users. It may give you an impression of present generation of Netbooks loaded with Windows 10 supporting the contemporary age of computing. In whatever form you feel, these laptops are the cheapest series ever launched in the market when compared to its competitors. Acer launched three devices in this series.
Cloudbook 11 (AO1-131-C7DW)
Cloudbook 11 is the cheapest model launched in this series. This will be made available to market from this month onwards from the Microsoft. The come with a price tag of $170 which is even less when compared to a modern middle range smartphone. The display of the device comes with a screen of 11.6 inches edge to edge with a screen resolution of 1366*768. The device functions on a dual core processor from Intel with the model name of Celeron N3050 and graphics supporting from Intel HD Graphics along with DirectX 12 feature.
The RAM of the device comes to be 2GB along with 16GB internal storage. Audio is supported by 2 stereo speakers with HD sound. The device is packed with one USB port of v3.0 and another with v2.0. The device is also having an HDMI port with a headset jack of 3.5mm. The WiFi connectivity is possible with a bandwidth of 802.11ac and Bluetooth is supported by v4.0. The device also has a memory card reader. It is also loaded with a webcam having the capacity of 640*480 resolution. Finally as mentioned above the device is loaded with the latest version of Windows 10 as its operating system.
The second Model – AO1-131-C1G9
The second model features a storage of 32GB which comes to be twice the storage of Cloudbook 11. The price is also quite high which comes to be $190, but it is not so high. The model also will be launched by Microsoft by the end of this month.
Cloudbook 14 (AO1-131-C1G9)
This is the premium model among the three. This model will be launched to market by Walmart with a price tag of $200. Some of the specifications of this model are similar to that of model with $190. The difference comes in the case of screen which is 14 inches edge to edge. This device is powered by a battery of 3 cells instead of 2 cells.
All the three models are launched with a full year subscription to Office 365 Personal and has been provided with a storage facility of upto 1GB on OneDrive. These devices may not thrill the high-end users. The uniqueness is the low price tag with Windows 10 loaded in it. Similar Chromebooks, they are economical option for students who prefer to use light computing devices for their schools and colleges.
This device could trigger the acceptance of Windows 10 on the assumption that these devices will attract more users towards them. That may be the reason that two models are being launched to market by Microsoft themselves. These devices could also revolutionalize the education sector by providing light devices to students. This could give a tough competition to Google’s Chromebook in the market also. Let us wait and see how these Cloudbooks going to penetrate the tech market across the globe.
